As reported in the Winter issue of Refuge Reporter, a series of commemorative postage stamps is being considered, at the request of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, to mark the refuge system's I 00th anniversary in 2003.

The historical nature, the upcoming anniversary, and the visitor appeal of national wildlife refuges appear to meet the major criteria requirements for commemorative stamp issuance.
