[From Spring 2002]
Spring has brought a baby TR bear to Chincoteague! He looks just like his
dad, TR Bear, only instead of being 16 inches tall he is only 9 inches. He is
stuffed with bean bag pellets, so he sits - as you can see by the picture - and
he fits perfectly in TR Bear's lap!
Both bears were commissioned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System in 2003. Pelican Island, the first national wildlife refuge, was established in 1903 by President Theodore Roosevelt to protect birds from poachers and plume hunters. There are now more than 530 refuges nationwide.
There are a limited number of the large TR Bears left. The price for members is $29.95, which includes shipping. The smaller, TR Jr. retails for $7.95, but CNHA members can buy him for $7.16 plus $2.00 shipping and handling.
If you want more than two sent to the same address shipping is $4 + $1 for each bear (example: 2 bears = $4, 3 bears = $5, 4 bears = $6, etc.). We are also offering members a super bonus -you can buy one large bear and one baby bear for $37.11 (if shipped to the some address).
We hope you enjoy the new addition to the Chincoteague family and we look forward to Celebrating a Century of Conservation with you!
