Earth Day

Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22nd, with programs revolving around youth groups. Scout troops, 4-H groups, and other youth organizations are invited to participate in a day of service and learning about wildlife.

The day will begin with groups cleaning the beach, building nesting boxes, picking up litter, and clearing trails. After lunch and a visit to the Assateague Lighthouse, participants will attend mini-workshops on species identification, wildlife protection, careers, and other subjects. If you are interested in helping with the event or know of an organization that might be interested in participating, please contact Maggie O'Connell at (804) 336-6122.

Maggie O'Connell,
Outdoor Recreation Planner
