New Hire on the CNWR Public Use Team

The Pubic Use (PU) Division welcomes Alison McGuire as Recreation Assistant. Alison joins the PU Team after working at Chincoteague Refuge for two consecutive internships in environmental education and interpretation, respectively.

"I can't really say that I'm the newest addition to the Chincoteague Refuge family since I interned here for quite some time," said Alison. "I just wouldn't go away so they gave me a job."

As a Recreation Assistant, Alison has the challenge of dabbling in all the various aspects of the PU Division. For example, in the spring, Alison conducted formal, curriculum-based, environmental education programs. In the summer, Alison will be fully engaged in delivering interpretive programs to visitors. During the fall and winter, she will be busy working on special events, developing PU materials, and helping to plan exhibits for the new interpretive hubs and the new visitor facility.

Originally from New Jersey, Alison attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Upon graduating, Alison traveled a bit, interned in South Dakota at Custer State Park and then landed here at Chincoteague Refuge.

"I'm thrilled to be in the brown uniform and to be getting paid the big bucks! As for Chincoteague Refuge, I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to work," said Alison.
