Eastern Shore District Envirothon

2-96-f.jpg (18413 bytes)The Eastern Shore Refuge was host site for the event held on April 3. Jim Kenyon, Outdoor Recreation Planner at the refuge, was site coordinator and wildlife resource specialist.

The Envirothon is a national environmental competition for high school students sponsored by soil and water conservation districts. Participants are trained and tested in the areas of aquatics, forestry, soils and wildlife, as well as a current topic which changes each year. This year's special topic was "landuse greenways."

An Eastern Shore team, the Nandua Nature Nurturers, won both the local and state events and will advance to the National Envirothon in Nebraska.
