[From Summer 1996]
Have you ever wondered where the other intelligent, charming, witty, and caring people live that also have the uncommon good sense to be members of the CNHA? (OK, I may have overdone it - but I handle CNHA memberships too.) Well, wonder no more. Here's the straight skinny.
Our northern-most member was a close call. Joanna T., in Yarmouth, Maine, just nosed out Kitt & Buz N. who live in Madison, Wisconsin.
Heading south from Yarmouth, down Interstate 95, will take you to Del Ray Beach, Florida, the home of Barbara G., our southern-most member. A little north from Barbara, were runners-up Walt & Peg D. from Jacksonville, Florida, and Becky P. who lives in Jackson, Mississippi.
To find our eastern-most member, it's back up 1-95 to Yarmouth, Maine. Yes, Joanna T. is a two-fer. Just down the road a bit is our runner-up, Elizabeth T. of Hingam, Massachusetts.
Our western-most member was a "no-contest" decision - Doris W. in Tulare, California. In case you're wondering, Tulare is between Fresno and Bakersfield.
Other locations that are a good distance from the Eastern Shore but home to some of our members include: Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Colombia, Missouri; and Lake Forest, Illinois. We also have a large number of loyal CNHA members in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
As you might expect, a large number of our members (~75%) live in the Mid-Atlantic region. But having members from all over the country attests to the "specialness" of the Shore and our refuges. So, to all our members, THANK YOU for helping the CNHA to help our refuges.
