[From Summer 1997]
At our most recent Board meeting, President Bill asked to be allowed to retire. Under his direction, the CNHA has grown in many ways and has accomplished many things. Bill's quiet direction was responsible. I feel very humble in trying to fill Bill's shoes and will make every effort to carry on all that he has started. There are many exciting things being discussed and we will fill you in more completely in a later issue of the newsletter.
Since the Chincoteague Refuge seems to be getting closer to a new Visitor-Educational Center, your association will become more important than ever in providing funds for education and interpretation on the refuge. I hope you'll begin to think about participating in a membership growth in the near future. We would like each and every one of you to be a 'Guest Volunteer" at the Visitor Center when you visit Chincoteague. We think you'll enjoy the experience of spending a short time in the center and experiencing the many things that your regular volunteers deal with. Two guest volunteer blue vests will be available, and we hope that as many of you as possible will join the "regulars" for as long as possible.
Please let me know at any time about questions that you might have. My home phone. number is (757) 824-3058 and my address is 33227 Chincoteague Road, Wallops Island, VA 23337. Thanks for your continued support of your association.
