[From Fall 2003]
Despite a disappointing summer season, with refuge visitation down this year compared to last year by nearly 60,000, CNHA sales income down by 11%, and 2,000 fewer tour passengers, CNHA will begin offering a schedule of wildlife tours (on a trial basis) from September through May. During the peak visitation period from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, daily tours were being conducted at 10 a.m., I p.m. and 4 p.m . From September through May, we will be offering the following schedule of tours
SEPTEMBER
Monday through Thursday - 10 a.m.
Friday - 4 p.m.
Saturday- 1 p.m.
Sunday - 10 a.m.
OCTOBER through MARCH
Saturday - I p.m.
Sunday - 10 a.m.
APRIL through MAY
Friday - 4 p.m.
Saturday - I p.m. & 4 p.m.
Sunday - 10 a.m.
In addition to the above tours for individuals, CNHA will also be offering tours for group visitors to the refuge. We will be monitoring and evaluating public response to this schedule, hoping the new visitor center will attract sufficient tour takers to at least generate break-even revenue.
