Take a Walk on the Wild Side

America's fascinating array of wild animals and plants call more than 500 national wildlife refuges home. You're welcome to visit these refuges anytime but, if you drop by during National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 5-13, 1996, you'll enjoy an even closer look into the natural world we all share.

Chincoteague and Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuges will be sponsoring a variety of special events during that time period. On October 4, 5, and 6, they are joining with community and conservation groups to host the annual Eastern Shore Birding Festival.

On October 12, the Chincoteague Refuge is planning a day of family activities, such as bird house building, bird feeder construction, art contests, button design, and special videos.
