Environmental Education at ESNWR

The Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge is beginning to expand and organize their environmental education program. This includes providing SOL (Virginia's Standards of Learning) correlated EE programs to all grade levels and allowing the students to learn about the importance of the area, the refuge system and the wildlife.

We are currently developing an EE mailing list for interested teachers and other educators (churches, clubs, day camps, etc.). These individuals will receive information on education programs that the refuge will be offering and information on special programs and teacher workshops. We hope to make the refuge a resource to supplement students' education.

Our goal is to begin in Spring 2000 with our first program brochure and a Project WILD teacher workshop, If you would like to be included on the mailing list or if you have ideas and or suggestions, please call Outdoor Recreation Planner Sheila Faith at (757) 331-2760.
