[From Winter 2002]
On Sunday, March 9, 2003 a centennial bus tour will roll through Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to promote the 100th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System. As the centennial tour travels throughout the region, it will be making stops at 21 National Wildlife Refuges in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
Regional Director Mamie Parker, media staff from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 5 Office, and other event coordinators will participate in the bus tour. Coordinated stops on the tour will promote the centennial through publicity and the involvement of the local communities.
The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is planning an open house for the public on the day the tour visits. Get on board and celebrate the centennial!
