New Artist on Display

We are proud to announce a new photography display at the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge. Skip Stephenson's photos are now on display in the auditorium in the visitor center of the refuge, located south of Cape Charles, Virginia. His pictures range from a beautiful perching eagle to shorebirds in flight to the simplicity of a feather on the beach. Anyone who loves nature and has tried to save it with photos is welcome to come see Skip's efforts. Skip is new to the world of nature photography but is jumping into it with both feet and a pair of Nikon cameras.

Displaying photographs on or near refuges is a new program for the Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR. In an effort to show visitors that they can take a little of the refuge with them with no harm to the resource, we have been offering exhibits of how other photographers have viewed the refuge. Starting off the program were members of the Tidewater Photography Club with shots from their tour of Fisherman Island. This was followed by refuge volunteer George Budd's examples of digiscope photography. Now we have Skip's view of wildlife on the Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR and Fisherman Island NWR.

We are looking for more artists who would like to display their special snapshots of life on wildlife refuges. If you are interested, please contact outdoor recreation planner Yvonne Schultz at 757-331-2760 or yvonne-schultz@fws.gov .
