[From Winter 2007]
By Carole Marz
On October 20, a meeting was held with three members of the Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society. Much information was exchanged on pursuing grant money, on the intricacies of dealing with historic landmarks and even the potential of having volunteers from the Chesapeake Chapter come to Assateague to work not only on our annual pre-opening cleaning of the lighthouse, but also work on restoration of interior spaces.
It was a privilege to meet Anne Puppa, Lauren and Paula Liebrecht, and we thank them for their enthusiastic response to our request to meet with them. Surely we will be working hand-in-hand with them on our beloved lighthouse in the future.
