[From Winter 1994-95]
Patricia (Pat) Esmond recently joined the Chincoteague NWR staff as the Supervisory Outdoor Recreation Planner. She will be overseeing the Visitor Services and Fee Collection programs and coordinating activities between the CNHA and the refuge.
Pat comes to Chincoteague with an extensive background in administration, education, and planning and a doctorate in administration/management from Michigan State University. Most recently, Pat served as an Education Specialist at Rock Creek Park in Washington D.C. Previously, she was an Outdoor Recreation Planner/Natural Resource Specialist at New River Gorge National River in West Virginia.
Pat is working with the public use staff to develop new and exciting programs for the upcoming year. One of the major objectives of the staff will be the planning of a new Educational/Interpretive Center for the refuge. The center is needed to meet the expanding demand from the local community for environmental education programs and to inform visitors of the area’s ecosystem.
