[From Winter 1998-1999]
The vacant Refuge Operations Specialist position has recently been filled at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Barron Crawford, a native of Tennessee, transferred in October from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park where he worked as a Wildlife Biologist. While at the 'Smokies,' Barron was employed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as part of a team whose goal was to restore the red wolf in the park.
Barron and his wife, Wendy, have settled down in Pocomoke City, MD. While they do not have any human children, Barron and Wendy do have a golden retriever which they lovingly consider their only (and very spoiled) child. When asked about his move to the shore, Barron said, "I look forward to working with the wonderful staff at Chincoteague NWR . . . my wife and I are looking forward to making many new friends on the eastern shore of Virginia and Maryland."
So be sure to stop by Barron's door at subheadquarters and introduce yourself. He'll enjoy the visit!
